This regional event will allow teams to qualify for the National SeaPerch Competition. Sixty-four teams will be competing in two divisions: Elementary/Middle School and High School.
The Georgetown Regional SeaPerch Challenge is fast approaching. This correspondence contains some important information that will be helpful to you as you plan for this event.
The electronic Engineering Notebook submission will be sent to email@example.com by 5:00 pm on April 14, 2017. If the file size is too large to email, please upload to Google Drive and then share it with firstname.lastname@example.org. The Engineering Notebook will be scored by a committee using the rubric found on the National SeaPerch website. Scores and rubric feedback will be returned to the coach upon check-in at the Georgetown Regional SeaPerch Challenge.
Please find two attached documents. The first is the schedule of events for the day of the tournament. This schedule is subject to change and coaches will be alerted to any changes made as soon as possible. The next document is the schedule for all pool events. Due to limited space in the natatorium, teams will compete both the Obstacle course and the Challenge course within the flight times that have been assigned. Fifteen minutes will be allotted for each course with a five minute transition. Both the Obstacle and Challenge courses will be scheduled back-to-back. Check in begins at 7:30 a.m. Teams should check in at least 1 hour prior to flight times assigned.
At the conclusion of all pool events (1:00 pm), scores will be tabulated. The scores of the Electronic Notebook, the Obstacle Course, and the Challenge Course are weighted equally. Combined scores are ranked and the top ten teams will be announced. These ten teams will prepare for interviews.
The awards will begin with the NJROTC Color Guard and opening remarks from dignitaries. All families, friends and district staff are invited to attend the awards ceremony. The awards will begin at 4:00pm in the gym.
Lunch will be on your own. There are a variety of options around the Georgetown Rec Center. Coaches should consider lunch arrangements for their team around their competition times.
More information will be sent to coaches as the Georgetown Regional SeaPerch Challenge draws closer.
We look forward to all of the amazing students that will demonstrate the results of their hard work. Please do not hesitate should you have any questions or concerns.
