Debra Barker has been the principal at Village Elementary since the start of the 2009-2010 school year. Mrs. Barker holds a bachelor of science in elementary education from the University of Texas at Austin and master of education in educational leadership from the University of Houston.
Mrs. Barker joined Georgetown ISD in 2003, and served as an assistant principal at Carver, Pickett, Ford, and Mitchell Elementary schools prior to becoming principal at Village. She assisted with the opening of both the Ford & Mitchell campuses.
Prior to joining GISD, Mrs. Barker held positions as a pre-school teacher at Hyde Park Baptist C.D.C. in Austin, Texas, a second grade teacher at Timmerman Elementary in Pflugerville ISD, and a fifth grade teacher at Oaks and Oak Forest Elementaries in Humble ISD.
Mrs. Barker and her husband Randy are both from small towns in Central Texas. Her daughter Jennifer and husband Mark live in Abilene, while her son Ryan lives in Houston. Mrs. Barker enjoys spending time with her family and friends. Her hobbies include yard work, reading, and photography.
