• Looking for a flexible work schedule, and a chance to make a difference?  Georgetown Independent School District's Substitutes are a vital element in the success of our students. In order to become a Substitute for GISD, you must hold a High School diploma or its equivalent (GED).  In addition, you will need to complete an online Teacher Substitute application (when available on our website under "Careers" and then "Job Opportunities") and attend a Substitute orientation session.
    Substiute Orientation
    Thursday, February 15, 2018 9 to 12 p.m.
Quailified applicants will be emailed with orientations details on February 12, 2018.
Substitute Pay:  $85.00/day and $100.00/day for Long Term Assignments
Nurse Substitute Pay:  $100.00/day including Long Term Assignments
Once your substitute application is complete, we will submit your name to the Texas Education Agency (TEA) for fingerprinting. Once the fingerprinting has been confirmed or a fingerprintingpass arrives, you will be notified by email. Upon completion of fingerprinting, you will receive a second email to complete all required paperwork through our online system.
Upon completion of online paperwork, you will be notified of the upcoming orientation information by email.
Due to the large number of Substitute applicants the time and location of orientation sessions are subject to change.
Senate Bill 9, also known as the "Fingerprinting Bill", was signed into law by Governor Perry in the Fall of 2007. This bill requires that all substitutes undergo a national criminal history record information review by the Texas Education Agency (TEA). Therefore, before you can be employed as a substitute in Georgetown ISD, you will be required to provide your fingerprints to be checked against the national criminal history database.

Note: You will be required to pay the fees associated with the fingerprinting process. The cost is from $51.00 to $53.00 depending on the method of payment. Additional details concerning the fingerprinting process will be provided when you attend a Substitute orientation.

What to Bring to the Substitute Orientation

You will need to bring the following items with you to the orientation:

    1.  A copy of your high school diploma, GED or college transcript.

    2.  Original proof of identity and employment eligibility. A driver's license and social security card are acceptable.
