GISD has over 800 classroom websites and provides web site templates year-round training to support teachers who are interested in web publishing.  Sign up for a class or contact your campus technology facilitator for additional information.

Getting Started

Want to share information on your classes, schedule, and assignments, and showcase student work for parents and students? GISD provides two different tools for web publishing: FrontPage and SiteBuilder.

FrontPage Manual for Teachers
This manual explains how to customize and publish a teacher web template using FrontPage.

Intermediate Web Design using FrontPage
This reference explains more advanced features of Microsoft FrontPage and web publishing, including using tables to organize your content, editing photots in FrontPage, and posting files on your website.

SiteBuilder Manual for Teachers
Want to maintain a simple website using only your browser? Sites created with this tool don't allow picture or document uploads but are appropriate for those who are beginners and want something simple and easy to maintain.

Getting Recognized

Designed by H. McLainGISD has implemented a Classroom Web Award program to recognize outstanding teacher web sites.  Nominations are made by campus technology facilitators in the spring semester each year. The web site must meet all of the following criteria:

 

  • Overall design and navigation must be consistent and easy to use

  • Content must be professional and appropriate to educational objectives & GISD web publishing policy

  • Must be updated at least once every nine weeks

  • Must be created and maintained by the teacher or staff member

  • Examples of class/program work and projects

  • Current assignments, handouts, lesson plans, grading criteria, and/or 9-week course outlines

Staff members receive recognition on the district web site, a certificate, an award graphic for their web site, and be eligible for the elementary, middle school/high school, and program web site of the year award.  Be sure to visit our award-winning classroom websites for inspiration and ideas!
