Catherine Carstens has been in education for four years. After graduating from Valdosta State University in December of 2012, she moved to Texas with her family of six. She worked as a substitute and later an instructional assistant with Rockwall ISD. When she and her family moved to Georgetown in August of 2014, she worked as a substitute before being hired as a self-contained 4th grade teacher at Pickett Elementary. The following year, she moved to Pat Cooper Elementary and taught 5th grade English Language Arts, Reading, and Social Studies.
Miss Carstens has a Bachelor of Science in Education, is Gifted and Talented trained, and is certified to teach ESL EC - 6 in the state of Texas and Pre-K through 5th in the state of Georgia.
Miss Carstens is beyond thrilled to be joining the Wagner Team as a teacher for the 2017-2018 school year. She is most excited about the opportunity to individualize learning for her students as well as create a learning environment that allows students to feel safe, loved, supported, and encouraged to take risks.
In her free time, Catherine loves curling up with a good book, spending time with her parents and three younger sisters, or cheering on her students in their various extracurricular activities.
