Dads of Great Students
End of the Day Survey

Program Goal: To help at Jo Ann Ford Elementary be positively influenced by the committed involvement of fathers and father figures in the lives of their children and students.
WATCH D.O.G.S. Background: is the safe school initiative of the National Center for Fathering that involves fathers and father figures to help create a more safe and secure learning environment in schools.

How WATCH D.O.G.S. Works: WATCH D.O.G.S. invites fathers, grandfathers, uncles or other father figures to spend at least one day all day or few hours at Ford Elementary during the school year. Men signed up at our kickoff “Dads and Kids Pizza Night” in Sept 2010 or they can sign up at any time at Hall Wall Calendar. Typical Watch D.O.G.S. volunteer duties include monitoring the school grounds, assisting with unloading and loading of buses and cars, monitoring the cafeteria, and helping in the classroom with a teacher’s guidance by working with small groups of students on homework, flashcards, or spelling.
To get involved with WATCH D.O.G.S. at Ford, contact the counselor at 512-943-5182 or email

Bus Schedules and Routes

Georgetown ISD utilizes group bus stops for students not located in a walk zone. A walk zone is defined as a zone within one mile of the school where students may walk to school with the protection of sidewalks and other protective measures such as crosswalks and streetlights.  Every effort has been made to see that elementary students do not walk more than 1/4 mile to a bus stop. Every effort has been made to see that middle and high school students do not walk more than 1/2 mile to their stop where possible. Door to door selective service is provided to special needs students only when it is required by their ARD and where possible.

Note: Some bus stops and pick up times may change, especially during the first six weeks of school, so periodically check your route information to catch any changes. We will also try to notify you of any changes by other means.
Pre-K students must be received at their bus stop by a pre-authorized adult with a picture ID card or the student will be returned to their campus when time allows without effecting follow on routes. If the route does not allow time, dispatch will arrange a meet up point to deliver the child.
For more information about bus service, schedules, and routes, please contact GISD Transportation at 943-5126.
