Due to STAAR testing next week, Carver campus will be closed to visitors/volunteers/mentors Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and possibly Friday. The award winning East View Sparkers will be hosting a dance camp for children K-8th grades on Saturday, 4/8/17. If your child in interested, please contact Director Tracy Melendez at 512-943-5000x8106 or email firstname.lastname@example.org. Please do not send money to Carver - all registration forms/money need to go directly to Mrs. Melendez. Cost is $45 - includes camp t-shirt, pizza lunch and cookie decorating. Will be held at EVHS Dance studio and cafeteria. Registration 8:30-9:00, clinic 9:00 - 12:00, Parent Show-offs: 12:00 - 12:30.
PTA is hosting an Evening Under the Stars Dance and auction on 4/21/17 at Carver. This event is a parent and student dance including food for purchase along with the opportunity to bid on some fabulous gift baskets put together by each grade level. Tickets for the dance will be $3 per person if they are pre-ordered and $5 per person at the door (students and parents need to purchase tickets). Doors open at 6:00 p.m. and the dance will end at 8:30 p.m. This event is an opportunity to raise money for school improvements which could include the purchase of new technology, a 3-D printer, water fountains for the playgrounds, and additional assistance to the group Maker Space.
The Happy Camper Book Fair will take place 4/3-4/7/17. Shopping hours are Monday - Thursday 7:30 am - 5:00 pm. Late nights Tuesday 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm and Thursday 5:00 - 7:30 pm. Students will have the opportunity to visit the book fair with their class. If you aren't able to attend the book fair during the shopping hours, we invite you to visit our online Book Fair at https://bookfairs.scholastic.com/bookfairs/cptoolkit/homepage.do?method=homepage&url=carverelementaryschool15. The online fair is available from 3/26 - 4/8/17.
We need volunteers to assist with the Book Fair. Before signing up, please make sure you have completed your online background check for the 2016-2017 school year. Just a reminder, any time you proceed beyond the office area, you are required to stop in the front office and get a Visitor or Volunteer name badge printed from the Raptor system. Please bring your picture ID so that we may scan it into the Raptor system.
Kindergarten students will take Cap & Gown pictures today. Don't be late, pictures will start at 8:00 in the morning! Watch for the pose sheets to come home soon (please send those back before the pictures are taken on 4/5/17). No money is due at this time. You will be able to order pictures once the proof packages arrive.
Watch for the window to open in August so you can go online to fill out the volunteer background check form for the 2016-2017 school year! A new application must be submitted EVERY school year.
