GISD Board of Trustees Appoints New Board Member
GEORGETOWN – The Georgetown Independent School District Board of Trustees appointed Ben Stewart as the replacement for Place 7 trustee Ronna Johnson at their Monday, Nov. 14 Board meeting. Johnson, who was serving her second term on the board, resigned her position because she and her family relocated to the Dallas area.
“Ben Stewart has been actively involved on the Carver campus as president of the PTA, has kids in the district, and serves a very important part of our community. I was glad that we were able to find someone of his experience, not only in education, but professionally and technologically,” said board member Scott Alarcon.
Stewart is an active volunteer, currently serving as the PTA President at Carver Elementary. Previously, he served as the treasurer of the Carver PTA from 2013-2016. Stewart also served on the Citizens Advisory Committee that was charged with studying district facilities, equipment, and needs before making a recommendation to the Board about whether or not to call for a bond election.
“It’s truly been an honor to be in the community for the last five years. It was a major decision to move, but we chose to live in Georgetown because of the school district,” said newly appointed trustee Ben Stewart.
Stewart works as a Technical Consultant for Dimension Data and is the Chief Technology Officer for Footprints Children’s Grief Ministry. He previously served as Principal Engineer at Dell Technologies for the last nine years.
Ben has been married to his wife, Sarah, for 14 years and they have two girls who currently attend Carver Elementary.
